Ingredients

Scale

Bibimbap Sauce Ingredients

  • ¼ cup gochujang (Korean red chili paste)
  • 2 teaspoons garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 ½ tablespoons rice vinegar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a medium-sized bowl, add ¼ cup gochujang, 2 teaspoons minced garlic, 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil, 2 tablespoons honey, 1 tablespoon sugar, 1 ½ tablespoons rice vinegar, and ¼ teaspoon salt if desired.
  2. Mix Well: Stir all the ingredients thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and well combined. The sugar and honey should be completely dissolved, and the sauce should be glossy and evenly textured.
  3. Serve or Store: Use the sauce immediately with your bibimbap or other dishes, or transfer it to an airtight container and refrigerate it for up to one week to let the flavors meld further.

Notes

  • You can adjust the sweetness or spiciness according to your taste by adding more honey or gochujang respectively.
  • For a vegan version, substitute honey with maple syrup or agave nectar.
  • This sauce can be used as a marinade for grilled meats or vegetables.
  • Make sure to use toasted sesame oil for the authentic nutty flavor.
  • The salt is optional since gochujang can already be salty.
