Ingredients

Scale

Ground Beef Mixture

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ½ cup diced onions (optional)
  • ½ cup pickles diced (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder (optional)

Main

  • 1 package (about 20 oz) frozen French fries (crinkle-cut or regular)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese or American cheese
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ground Beef: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder if using. Cook until browned and fully cooked through, about 6-7 minutes. Drain any excess grease.
  2. Add Condiments: Stir ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise into the cooked ground beef mixture. Mix until well combined. If using diced onions or pickles, fold them into the mixture now. Set aside.
  3. Layer the Casserole: Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Spread the frozen French fries evenly over the bottom of the dish. Pour the beef mixture over the fries, spreading it out evenly.
  4. Top with Cheese: Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top of the beef and fries, covering the entire surface.
  5. Bake the Casserole: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and the fries are crispy.
  6. Serve: Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired, then serve immediately. Accompany with ketchup or mustard on the side as preferred.

Notes

  • You can use American cheese instead of cheddar for a more classic cheeseburger flavor.
  • Adding diced pickles and onions enhances the authentic cheeseburger taste but can be omitted based on preference.
  • If you prefer crispier fries, you can partially bake them before layering.
  • This casserole reheats well, making it great for meal prep and next-day leftovers.
  • Feel free to customize with additional toppings like jalapeños or cooked bacon for extra flavor.
